Skala Kallonis to Makara, coastal wetlands| Σκ. Καλλονής-Μάκαρα, παράκτιοι υγρότοποι

Μέχρι τώρα είχαμε 5 βροχερές μέρες το Νοέμβριο (8-10 και 13-14 του μηνός). Επισκέφτηκα σήμερα όλους τους παράκτιους υγρότοπους από τη Σκάλα Καλλονής μέχρι τα Μάκαρα (δυτικότερη εξωτερική πλευρά του Κόλπου Καλλονής) και οδήγησα αρκετά χιλιόμετρα μέσα από τα υπερβοσκημένα φρύγανα της περιοχής.

Τίποτε μη αναμενόμενο, ειδικά από υγροτοπικά πουλιά, άλλωστε κάποιοι υγρότοποι μόλις αυτές τις μέρες απέκτησαν πάλι νερό… από το καλοκαίρι! Όμως ήταν μια ωραία εξόρμηση. Ακολουθούν οι πιο ενδιαφέρουσες παρατηρήσεις:

11 Αργυροτσικνιάδες (Casmerodius albus)- κυρίως σε χωράφια

4 Σταχτοτσικνιάδες (Ardea cinerea)

3 Λευκοτσικνιάδες (Egretta garzetta)

7 Φοινικόπτερα (Phoenicopterus roseus)- στις 9 Καμάρες

2 Νερόκοτες (Gallinula chloropus)- στα Μάκαρα

3 Αλκυόνες (Alcedo atthis)

1 Γερακίνα (Buteo buteo)

2 Διπλοσάινα (Accipiter gentilis)

1 Ξεφτέρι (Accipiter nisus)

2 Βραχοκιρκίνεζα (Falco tinnunculus)

Κοπάδια από: Σπουργίτια (Passer domesticus), Καρδερίνες (Carduelis carduelis), Φανέτα (Carduelis cannabina), Τσιφτάδες (Milliaria calandra), Σταρήθρες (Alauda arvensis), Δενδροσταρήθρες (Lullula arborea), Σπίνους (Fringilla coelebs), Λευκοσουσουράδες (Motacilla alba).

10 Μαυροβουτηχτάρια (Podiceps nigricolis)

5 Σκουφοβουτηχτάρια (Podiceps cristatus)

9 Θαλασσοκόρακες (Phalacrocorax aristotelis)

4 Κορμοράνοι (Phalacrocorax carbo)

96 Καστανοκέφαλοι Γλάροι (Larus ridibundus)

8 Μαυροκέφαλοι Γλάροι (Ichtyaetus melanocephalus)

362 Ασημόγλαροι (Larus michahellis) – σε θάλασσα, φρύγανα και.. τον ουρανό)

Σύνολο ειδών που παρατηρήθηκαν: 45

It rained for 5 days in November, so far (8-10 and 13-14). I visited all the coastal wetlands from Skala Kallonis to Makara (Western outer side of the Kalloni Gulf) and I also drove through the overgrazed phrygana (low spiny mediterranean type vegetation) of the area for several kilometres.

Nothing unexpected, especially for wetland birds. After all most wetlands got flooded again these last days for the first time after months… Still it was a nice birdwatching half- day. Here are my most interesting sightings:

11 Great White Egrets (Casmerodius albus)- mainly in fields

4 Grey Herons (Ardea cinerea)

3 Little Egrets (Egretta garzetta)

7 Flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus)- at Enia Kamares (West River or Christou) River

2 Moorhens (Gallinula chloropus)- at Makara

3 Kingfishers (Alcedo atthis)

1 Buzzard (Buteo buteo)

2 Goshawks (Accipiter gentilis)

1 Sparrohawk (Accipiter nisus)

2 Kestrels (Falco tinnunculus)

Flocks of: Sparrows (Passer domesticus), Gold Finches (Carduelis carduelis), Linnets(Carduelis cannabina), Corn Buntings (Milliaria calandra), Skylarks (Alauda arvensis), Wood Larks (Lullula arborea), Chaffinches (Fringilla coelebs), White Wagtails (Motacilla alba).

In the sea:

10 Black-necked Grebes (Podiceps nigricolis)

5 Great Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus)

10 Shags (Phalacrocorax aristotelis)

4 Cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo)

96 Black-headed Gulls (Larus ridibundus)

8 Mediterranean Gulls (Ichthyaetus melanocephalus)

362 Yellow-legged Gulls (Larus michahellis) – in the sea, phrygana and… the sky
