Ζεστή μέρα (26 ºC) με απόλυτη ηλοφάνεια και σχετική άπνοια. Όχι πολλά μεταναστευτικά, όμως τα αναπαραγόμενα πουλιά της περιοχής ήταν μια απόλαυση! Ξεκινήσαμε (όχι νωρίς το πρωί) από Ερεσό προς το Σίγρι, από το χωματόδρομο που περνά από τον Τσιχλιώντα (ο δρόμος είναι σε πολύ καλή κατάσταση) και περάσαμε λίγη ώρα στη Φανερωμένη. Περισσότερο παρατήρηση πουλιών και όχι φωτογράφηση.
Τα πιο κοινά πουλιά ήταν ο Κατσουλιέρης (Galerida cristata), ο Τσιφτάς (Emberiza calandra), το Φρυγανοτσίχλονο (Emberiza caesia), η Ασπροκωλίνα (Oenanthe hispanica) και ο Μαυρολαίμης (Saxicola torquatus)- και το 1ο νεαρό Μαυρολαιμάκι της χρονιάς! Επίσης είδαμε:
4 Καστανόπαπιες (Tadorna ferruginea), 1 Μαυροπελαργό (Ciconia nigra)
3 Πρασινοσκέληδες (Tringa nebularia), 1 Δασότρυγγα (T. ochropus)
1 Τσαλαπετεινό (Upupa epops)
6 Ωχροκελάδες (Anthus campestris), 1 Δενδροκελάδα (A. trivialis)
1 Αμμοπετρόκλη (Oenanthe isabellina), 1 Αηδόνι (Luscinia megarynchos)
3 Μελωδοτσιροβάκους (Sylvia crassirostris), 2 Βουνοτσιροβάκους (S. curruca)
1 Μαυρομυγοχάφτη (Ficedula hypoleuca) και 1 Κρικομυγοχάφτη( F. albicollis), αρσενικά
2 Κοκκινοκεφαλάδες (Lanius senator)
23 Κοράκια (Corvus corax)
1 Συκοφάγο (Oriolus oriolus) που κελαηδούσε κρυμμένος μέσα σε ένα δέντρο στον Τσιχλιώντα
20+ Χωραφοσπουργήτες (Passer hispaniolensis)
4 Σμυρνοτσίχλονα (Emberiza cineracea), όλα αρσενικά
2 Αετογερακίνες (Buteo rufinus), 1 Ξεφτέρι (Accipiter nisus), 1 νεαρός Κίρκος (Circus spp. με λευκό ουροπύγιο)
3 Κιρκινέζια (Falco naumanni), 2 Βραχοκιρκίνεζα (F. tinnunculus)
Άλλα είδη που καταγράφηκαν: Μιλτοχελίδονο, Βραχοτσοπανάκος, Φανέτο, Δενδροσταρήθρα, Κουκουβάγια, Σταχτοπετρόκλης κ.ά.
Η κοίτη του ποταμού στη Φανερωμένη έχει πολύ λίγο νερό. Στο πρώτο τσιμεντένιο πέρασμα από την εκβολή προς τα πάνω είναι εντελώς στεγνή. Επίσης πολύ μικρή για την εποχή είναι η παράκτια λιμνούλα πριν την εκβολή.

Το προηγούμενο βράδυ (19:30) πάνω από την Αγία Παρασκευή (Β της Αλυκής Καλλονής) πέρασε χαμηλά ένα κοπάδι από 18 Πορφυροτσικνιάδες (Ardea purpurea)!
A warm day (26 ºC) with absolute sunshine and no wind. Not many migrants, mostly enjoyed the breeding birds of the area! The trip began from Eressos (not very early in the morning) towards Sigri via the dustroad that crosses Tsichliontas River (Meladia)- and is in very good condition- and spent some time around Faneromeni. Mostly birdwatching and not bird photographing.
The most common bird species were the Crested Lark (Galerida cristata), Corn Bunting (Emberiza calandra), Cretzschmar’s Bunting (Emberiza caesia), Black-eared Wheathear (Oenanthe hispanica) and the Stonechat (Saxicola torquatus)- the 1st Stonechat fledgling of the year for me . Also seen:
4 Ruddy Shelducks (Tadorna ferruginea), 1 Black Stork (Ciconia nigra)
3 Green Shanks (Tringa nebularia), 1 Green Sandpiper (T. ochropus)
1 Hoopoe (Upupa epops)
6 Tawny Pipits (Anthus campestris), 1 Tree Pipit (A. trivialis)
1 Isabelline Wheathear (Oenanthe isabellina), 1 Nightingale (Luscinia megarynchos)
3 Eastern Orphean Warblers (Sylvia crassirostris), 2 Lesser Whitethroats (S. curruca)
1 Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) and 1 Collared Flycatcher ( F. albicollis), males
2 Woodchat Shrikes (Lanius senator)
23 Ravens (Corvus corax)
1 Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus) singing hidden in a tree at Tsichliontas River
20+ Spanish Sparrows (Passer hispaniolensis)
4 Cinereous Buntings (Emberiza cineracea), all males
2 Long-legged Buzzards (Buteo rufinus), 1 Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus), 1 ringtail Harrier
3 Lesser Kestrels (Falco naumanni), 2 Kestrels (F. tinnunculus)
Other species recorded: Red-rumped Swallow, Rock Nuthatch, Linnet, Wood Lark, Little Owl, Northern Wheathear etc.
The river bed at Faneromeni had very low quantities of water. It was completely dry at the lower cement ford (from the mouth and up). Even the mouth pool is very small (hardly call it a mouth pool…). Finally the coastal pool before the river mouth is very small for this time of year…

The previous evening (19:30) a flock of 18 Purple Herons (Ardea purpurea) passed low over Agia Paraskevi (N of the Kalloni Salt Pans)!
