Ξαναχειμώνιασε… Βροχερός και κρύος καιρός 14-17/3 (8 -10 º C το μεσημέρι!) αλλά στις 18 είχαμε μια υπέροχη λιακάδα. Τώρα που γράφω αυτή την ανάρτηση βρέχει ξανά (19/3 πρωί). Και να τι καινούργιο μας ήρθε (περιοχή από τον Ποταμό Τσικνιά μέχρι την Αλυκή Καλλονής, μία με μιάμιση ώρα κάθε πρωί):
46 Σαρσέλες (Anas querquedula) να βγαίνουν από τη θάλασσα και να μπαίνουν στην Αλυκή- 18/3
90+ Καστανόπαπιες (Tadorna ferruginea) πολλές για την εποχή
500+ Σκουφοβουτηχτάρες (Podiceps cristatus) στον Κόλπο Καλλονής- 18/3
5 Θαλασσοπρίστες (Mergus serrator)- 18/3
15 Μύχοι (Puffinus yelkuan)- 16/3
1 Λευκοπελαργός (Ciconia ciconia) στον Τσικνιά (16/3), και μετά στη φωλιά της Καλλονής (18/3)!
2 Μαυροπελαργοί (Ciconia nigra) πετούσαν πάνω από το κεντρικό πευκοδάσος (Γ. Καραγιαννόπουλος)- 18/3
2 Καλαμόκιρκοι (Circus aeriginosus), 2 Αετογερακίνες (Buteo rufinus)
2 Ποταμοσφυριχτές (Charadrius dubius)- 17/3
10 Στρειδοφάγοι (Haematopus ostralegus) στην ακτή κάτω από την Αλυκή- δεν έχω δει ποτέ περισσότερους- 16/3

2 Λασπότρυγγες (Tringa glareola)- 18/3, 20+ Δασότρυγγες (Tr. ochropus)
3 Βαλτότρυγγες (Tringa stagnatilis), 1 Μαυρότρυγγας (Tr. erythropus)
2 Πρασινοσκέληδες (Tr. nebularia), 30+ Κοκκινοσκέληδες (Tr. totanus)
1 Ακτίτης (Actitis hypoleucos)
1 Λιμόζα (Limosa limosa), 10-13 Μαχητές (Philomachus pugnax)
2 Λεπτοραμφόγλαροι (Croicocephalus genei)
4 Σταχτάρες (Apus apus)-17/3 και 45+ την επόμενη μέρα με τη λιακάδα (ήρθε το αγαπημένο μου πουλί!)
Καλό πέρασμα από Σταυλοχελίδονα (Hirundo rustica) και Σπιτοχελίδονα (Delichon urbicum) δεκάδες πουλιά τρέφονται και περνάνε από του υγροτόπους από τις 15/3 και μετά, το ίδιο και κεντρικά στο νησί (Όλυμπος-Αγιάσσος, Γ. Καραγιαννόπουλος)
3 Οχθοχελίδονα(Riparia riparia) και 8 Μιλτοχελίδονα (Cecropsis daurica) – 15/3
20+ Κιτρινοσουσουράδες (Motacilla flava)-18/3, οι περισσότερες της φυλής feldegg (Βαλκανίων) και 1-2 της superciliaris και της dombrowskii
25+ Λευκοσουσοσυράδες να τρέφονταιστη λιμνούλα στη ΝΔ γωνιά της Αλυκής (με τις Κίτρινες!)
2 Σταχτοπετρόκληδες (Oenanthe oenanthe), 1 Αμμοπετρόκλης (Oe. isabellina) κάτω από την Αλυκή σε όλες τις επισκέψεις
40+ Σταχτοτσικνιάδες (Ardea cinerea) σε μικρές ομάδες ξεκουράζονται στην Αλυκή και τα γύρω λιβάδια
The weather has gone towards winter again… 14-17 was rainy and cold (8 -10 degrees around noon!) but 18 was a great sunshine. Now that I am writing this post it is raining (19/3 morning). Here are the new things that have arrived (area from Tsiknias to the Kalloni Pans, for one hour each morning):
46 Garganeys (Anas querquedula) coming out of the Kalloni Gulf sea and into the Pans-18/3
90+ Ruddy Shelducks (Tadorna ferruginea) still around the Kalloni Pans fields
500+ Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus) in the Kalloni Gulf sea- 18/3
5 Red-breasted Mergansers (Mergus serrator)- 18/3
15 Yelkouan Shearwaters (Puffinus yelkuan)- 16/3
1 White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) in the Tsiknias River (16/3), seen on the Kalloni nest on 18/3
2 Black Storks (Ciconia nigra) cyrcling over the main forest area towards Mitilini (by G. Karagiannopoulos)- 18/3
2 Marsh Harriers (Circus aeriginosus), 2 Long-legged Buzzards (Buteo rufinus)
2 Little Ringed Plovers (Charadrius dubius)- 17/3
10 Oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus) by the coast below the Pans- 16/3
3 Black-winged Stilts (Himantopus himantopus) -17/3
2 Wood Sandpipers (Tringa glareola)- 18/3, 20+ Green Sandpipers (Tr. ochropus)
3 Marsh Sandpipers (Tringa stagnatilis), 1 Spotted Redshank (Tr. erythropus)
2 Greenshanks (Tr. nebularia), 30+ Redshanks (Tr. totanus)
1 Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos)
1 Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa), 10-13 Ruffs (Philomachus pugnax)
2 Slender-billed Gulls (Croicocephalus genei)
4 Swifts (Apus apus)-17/3 and 45+ on the following day (my favourite bird has arrived!)
A good passage of Swallows and House Martins (tens of birds feeding and passing through) from 15/3 and on
3 Sand Martins (Riparia riparia) and 8 Red Rumped Swallows (Cecropsis daurica) – 15/3
20+ Yellow Wagtails (Motacilla flava)-18/3, most of them of the feldegg (Balkan) race and 1-2 of superciliaris and dombrowskii races
25+ White Wagtails feeding all days in the pool SW of the Pans (together with the Yellows!)
2 Northern Wheatears (Oenanthe oenanthe), 1 Isabelline Wheatear (Oe. isabellina) seen on all visits
40+ Grey Herons (Ardea cinerea) in small flocks are recorded resting in the Pans and the surrounding fields
