Alan Troyer, a visiting birder from the US, photographed this Laughing Dove (Streptopelia senegalensis) in Panagiouda, just north of Mitilini, among Collared Doves. A rare-bird sighting form was sent to the Greek Rarities Committe for this sighting.

The weather was very harsh the following days and none of the local birders even tried to go search for it again.. We all hope it stays there for winter -ok, the truth is we have all seen this species during trips to the nearby coast of Turkey…
