5 March, Kalloni Salt Pans FIELDS| 5 Μαρτίου, ΛΙΒΑΔΙΑ Αλυκή Καλλονής

Τα λιβάδια κάτω από την Αλυκή Καλλονής καλά πλημμυρισμένα φέτος υποδέχονται τους πρώτους μετανάστες της Άνοιξης. Σήμερα το πρωί είδα:

7 Χουλιαρομύτες (Platalea leucorodia), οι γνωστές 2 και ένα μικρό κοπάδι από 5 που μόλις έφτασε από τη θάλασσα!!

6 Χουλιαρόπαπιες (Anas clypeata)

1 Μαχητής (Philomachus pugnax), 1 Λιμόζα (Limosa limosa)

3 Δασότρυγγες (Tringa ochropus) και 2 ακόμη στο βόρειο τμήμα του περιμετρικού καναλιού

1 Αετογερακίνα (Buteo rufinus), 1 Καλαμόκιρκος (Circus aeroginosus)

Όλα αυτά μαζί με 25 Βαρβάρες (Tadorna tadorna), 8 Καστανόππιες (Tadorna ferruginea), 4 Πρασινοκέφαλες Πάπιες (Anas platyrhynchos), 12 Αργυροτσικνιάδες(Casmerodius albus), 1 Μαυροπελαργό (Ciconia nigra), 40 Φοινικόπτερα (Phoenicopterus roseus), 6 Κοκκινοσκέληδες (Tringa totanus) και Ασημόγλαρους (Larus michahellis) (60+).

Ακόμη λίγοι Καρβουνιάρηδες τριγύρω μαζί με κοπάδια από Φλώρους/ Καρδερίνες/ Σπίνους (100+) και μικρότερα από Σταρήθρες (15+).

ΣΤΗΝ ΘΑΛΑΣΣΑ ένα μοναχικό Λαμπροβούτι (Gavia arctica), 522 Σκουφοβουτηχτάρια (Podiceps cristatus), 5 Θαλασσοπρίστες (Mergus serrator) και 2 Μαυροβουτηχτάρια (Podiceps nigricolis).

The fields below the Kalloni Pans are nicely flooded this time of year and an ideal place to search for newly arrived spring migrants. Most importantly I can visit the area daily…! This morning at the SW and SE fields of the Kalloni Pans I found:

7 Spoonbills (Platalea leucorodia), the usual 2 and a small flock of 5 more just arriving from the sea!!

6 Shovelers (Anas clypeata)

1 Ruff (Philomachus pugnax), 1 Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa)

3 Green Sandpipers (Tringa ochropus) and 2 more at the North part of the surrounding canal

1 Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo rufinus), 1 Marsh Harrier (Circus aeroginosus)

All the above together with 25 Shelducks (Tadorna tadorna), 8 Ruddy Shelducks (Tadorna ferruginea), 4 Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos), 12 Great White Egrets (Casmerodius albus), 1 Black Stork (Ciconia nigra), 40 Flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus), 6 Redshanks (Tringa totanus) and Yellow-legged Gulls (Larus michahellis) (60+).

Still only a few Black Redstars around together with flocks (100+) of Greenfinches/Goldfinches/Chaffinches and smaller ones of Skylarks (15+).

IN THE SEA 1 lonely Black-throated Diver (Gavia arctica), 522 Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus), 5 Red-breasted Mergansers (Mergus serrator) and 2 Black-necked Crebes (Podiceps nigricolis).
