We have a report of a possible Isabelline Shrike (Lanius isabellinus) from the Meladia Valley (between Sigri and Eresos) on 9 October, observed by visiting birder Stephen Rodwell, who has kindly given us permission to share his photos (many thanks to M. Sveikutis for obtaining them!).
You can see the species’ geographical distribution here: https://birdsoftheworld.org/…/isashr1/cur/introduction
Lesvos lies well outside its usual migration route. Nevertheless, this is one of the island’s great advantages: its location just off the coast of the vast landmass of western Asia makes it an excellent place for unexpected visitors!
** A relevant record form will be submitted to the Hellenic Rarities Committee for final review and decision on the record.
