I was by Kalami Marsh (Messa) this late afternoon (18:45 to 19:45). The water levels are rather high for this time of year and even waders were having a hard time to occupy the place! Interesting sightings:

1 Ruddy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea)

1 Short-toed Eagle (Circaetus gallicus), 1 Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus)

1 Little Ringed Plover (Charadius dubius), 3 Green Sandpipers (Tringa ochripus) and 8 Wood Sandpipers (T. glareola)

4 singing Sedge Warblers (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus)- the one on the photo with a ring!

1 Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator)

Acrocephalus schoenobaenus; Lesvos

It was already dark but I wanted to at least be at the fields below the Kalloni Pans. I was so right:

2 Purple Herons (Ardea purpurea) arriving out of the sea and landing there

4 Great White Egrets (Ardea alba) and 2 Ruddy Shelducks (Tadorna ferruginea) were also present- any smaller sized bird must have been overlooked..!
