This morning I got a message from my friend Thekla that lives a Kalloni saying she had seen a White Stork flying over the central pine forest. We knew White Storks have already been crossing mainland Turkey (tagged birds) and that also the very first birds were reported back in their nests in a few areas in Northern Greece these last days. So I told her this was probably a passage bird.
I can’t be sure it was the same bird but around noon the Kalloni square bird was seen on the nest for the first time this year.
Happy March!
