I was around the Kalloni Salt Pans yesterday (25/3) evening with non-birders in the car and no chances for anything better since it was our National Independence Day and a holiday with family and friends.
Had my first Little Ringed Plover (Charadrius dubius) and Alpine Swift (Apus melba) – 2 birds among 40+ Common Swifts- for this Spring and also a few Yellow Wagtails(10+) and a fly-over flock of Ruffs (35-40 ind.).
Just before leaving the Pans my eye grabbed something red moving on my right side and noticed two Flamingos in copulation! I have started hoping again they will nest on the island!
